The waters around Gotham are walled off, and no one can legally get in or out. The government has officially cut Gotham off from the United States, declaring it a No ManвЂ™s Land. The first few pages indicate the current state of Gotham. I donвЂ™t know, just something more appropriate. A better cover might have been, say, a view of Gotham from OracleвЂ™s tower, or perhaps James Gordon and the Blue Boys in a group shot. Despite having Batman in the title, he doesnвЂ™t appear anywhere within the book. However, in terms of subject matter, itвЂ™s completely inappropriate. On one hand, itвЂ™s another great example of Alex RossвЂ™ fine work at using paint-like style to create a realistic image.

My opinion on the covers content is rather conflicting.

But sinceВ IвЂ™mВ readingВ from the trade, weвЂ™ll just go with the one in the book. The cover for this issue is actually a holofoil, so that meansВ thereвЂ™sВ actuallyВ fourВ covers combined into one. Today IвЂ™ll just be talking about the first half alongside the cover, and next week IвЂ™ll talk about the second half and my thoughts on the issue as a whole. Since this issue is nearly twice as long as a regular comic, IвЂ™ll be splitting this review into two parts. This week, we start with вЂњBatman: No ManвЂ™s Land #1вЂќ. IвЂ™ll be doing a issue-by-issue overview of No ManвЂ™s Land, with a new installment every week. Then I realized, why not just talk about all of No ManвЂ™s Land? So, here I am. And towards the end of the first volume of the trade, I found a touching moment that I wanted to share with the rest of the fandom. A time when GothamвЂ™s worst and best fought in a wrecked city with no rules? Who wouldnвЂ™t be interested? So, when I discovered just how many comics were in my states library system, I decided IвЂ™d like to try it.

Then Gotham gets hit by a plague, then an earthquake, and then the mother of all aftershocks. Then the mantel of the Bat is taken on by a psycho, More than any other hero, the nineties were tough on Batman.
